Wanted to think of a simple way to help my kids learn about contractions. You know, turning they are into they’re, do not into don’t, you have into you’ve, etc. I was trying to pull from our Montessori background and do something hands on.
Beware the contraction pirates, me hearties. They’re sailing in your ocean and they’re looking for letters! They’ll leave you an apostrophe treasure map.
I just cut mine out of a big index card, and we took turns sailing the ship up to steal the Bananagram letters and leave the apostrophe. ARGH!
